Market Report

The Mortgage Market report is showing positive signs even amid the government shut down.
There is a growing inventory of homes for sale! Price inflation is slowing and we are seeing some slight price reductions as well as a rate decrease so this generally good news for those looking for a new home!

We saw mortgage rates drop to a 9 month low!

Usher in January

January’s here and its a new year! We wish you all ✌, health and prosperity . To help with the last part here are three things you can do to get the year started!
1. Put away for retirement! Make sure you’re contributing the maximum you can to 401k and or IRAs
2. Consider re-balancing your portfolio – we aren’t giving specific investment advice but check your portfolio mix and consult a reputable advisor if needed
3. Check your investment fund fees! Some mutual fund fees are higher than you think and can add up over time!

Now we know its cold out so its not a bad time get out a blanket and check out whats new on the πŸ“Ί

End of Year Financial Checklist

As we near the end of year its a good time to make sure you make sure you’re good to go with your finances βœ…
Here are some (but not all!) to keep in mind:
Put funds in your HSA account (if eligible) the max contribution for families is $6900, for individuals its $3,450 before taxes.
Realize any capital gains losses (they can be used up to $3,000 against ordinary income as well)
Max out your 401k (if possible)
Contribute to your 529 plan (if you have kids or grandkids)
And of course make sure to donate to charity before December 31!

Xmas Shopping Tips

We know black Friday is over but if you’re like us you still have 🎁 shopping to do!
Here are a few tips!
1. Set a budget – if you’re not careful it can add up fast, so set a budget and stick to it!
2. Shop at odd hours (if possible) nothing ruins the holidays like getting in a parking spot war on a saturday afternoon!
3. Order online for pickup – another way to beat the zoo is order online for pickup at the store! You save on shipping and don’t have to worry about Santa coming late!
4. Keep it organized – only go to shops you have on your list – this way you can keep on budget and save time
5. On your way to shopping pack the car with things you can donate to your a local charity – maybe some sporting equipment or sweaters to help those less fortunate enjoy the holidays as well!

Welcome To December πŸŽ„

Well hopefully you finished all your left-overs as we get ready to enter December! The last month of the year.
Of course most people think of ugly sweaters, (we mean the holidays! 🎁:) when they think of December. Busy parents also think about shopping and getting everything ready as well! Maybe this your first holiday season in a new house, we will have some posts later this month full of holiday planning and shopping tips don’t worry!
First we need to give some financial tips!
As its the season of giving – don’t forget you have until December 31 to make charitable contributions. But you should also check to make sure your charity qualifies for tax exempt status AND you get documentation for your giving!
Here’s a helpful link to check the organizations status

And of course, we have new movies online to checkout because we all need a little time to unwind!
So here’s a few new options on Netflix this month – the cult classic The Big Lebowski, for the kids, the live action version of the jungle book – Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, all you action and comic book fans will want to catch Avengers infinity war and of course holiday movies you can catch a lot – but there’s a new one we’ve circled the Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russell.
